factorize 3x^2 - 12x + 2 = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the quadratic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried but i'm very confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can always use the x and the box method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where are you confused?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually nevermind it's not applicable here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-b +- sqrt (b^2 - 4ac)/2a. a = 3, b = -12, c = 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm taking a pre-test and I don't know how to do this yet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 +- sqrt (144 - 24)/2(3). I already plugged in the values, do you think you can do it now?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 +- sqrt (120)/6 12 +- 10.95/6 Your answers are (12 + 10.95)/6 and (12-10.95)/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.83 and .18 (rounded)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you I understand it more now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem. Remember, you can ALWAYS use the quadratic formula but you can also try graphing the equation, and the answers will just be where the graph intersects the x axis.
