How did slavery develop and change in different places and cultures?

Contrary to common belief in the USA, slavery did not start in the Americas, nor all cultures and continents, and even exists to this day, in one form or another, Europe, northern U.S., and other civilized areas of the world recognized the of America so it was just easier for them to continue the practice then change it.
