The rectangle below has a total perimeter of 125 cm. : picture of a rectangle with a width of 5 Write an equation and solve it to find the length of the longer side of the rectangle. 2x + 10 = 125; x = 57.5 cm x + 5 = 125; x = 120 cm 5x = 125; x = 25 cm 25x = 125; x = 5 cm

|dw:1406681824288:dw| It's going to be the first one. This was how I solved it but I can explain it in terms of the first equation. Perimeter is all of the sides added up. So the two widths (5) are going to add up to 10. The two lengths (x) are going to add to 2x. This is all going to equal 125. So, 2x+10=125
