OpenStudy (zaxoanl):

find the solubility and determine if they are soluble, moderately soluble, or insoluble 1. calcium carbonate 2. 2-propanol 3. hydrogen sulfide 4. caffeine 5. ascorbic acid 6. cholesterol

OpenStudy (aaronq):

what are they being dissolved in?

OpenStudy (zaxoanl):

in water

OpenStudy (zaxoanl):

please help i don't get it

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Water will dissolve polar-compounds easily, but not non-polar.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The only exception would be \(CaCO_3\), it's insoluble.

OpenStudy (zaxoanl):

is there a way to calculate the solubility (g/mL)?

OpenStudy (zaxoanl):

it says find solubility in g/100mL

OpenStudy (jfraser):

you need a solubility curve, like this one, or you need to use the KSP and calculate it

OpenStudy (aaronq):

There is definitely no analytical way of solving for the solubility, for an quantitative answer you need experimental data.
