Would you help me solve -x^2 - 3x + 1 = 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ -x^2 - 3x + 1 = 0\] i would start with \[x^2+3x-1=0\] because i find it easier that way then you are going to have to use the quadratic formula because this one will not factor do you know it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@satellite73 Yes -b +/- sq. root -b^2-4ac. Thank you for the tip to use the quadratic formula, I was stuck on factoring it. Even when dividing by -1 I still couldn't factor! I will try the quadratic formula, thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah don't bother to factor, it does not just use the formula

@satellite73 Yes, thank you. I also meant to include dividing the whole formula by 2(a) on the last post as well.
