1) not it, sounds like a definition is coming along with that transition
2) Maybe suspenseful, or maybe not. What happens if "in a distance, she sees her mom's sad smile as she waved good bye to her."? Yeah, not so suspenseful.
3) Not it again. "In the same way" is same, same is nothing new, nothing new is boring news
4) Oh! This is it! "All of a sudden, a bear jumped out from the bush and scared the campers to death." "All of a sudden, Elena turned around and saw Mike placing a beautiful ring on the table as he began to kneel down." Oh yes, some good excitement there!
