How were women treated by the government during World War I?

Well they weren't allowed to fight in war, even right now women are still not allowed to fight in war (U.S.) unless they go through infantry tests and the score line is the same one that a male soldier has to accomplish. Women in that time just helped in making letters for leaders, nurses, or just worked in war factories thats it.
