An object travels at fifteen feet per minute. How many feet does it travel in 24 minutes and 40 seconds? A) 360 B) 370 C) 367.5 D) 600

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

hes right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how though ?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

you could set this up as a ratio. First convert the minutes to seconds and then set up the ratio as such:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it travels 15 feet per minute and you have 24 minutes, multiply 15 by 24 to get 360. Then 40 seconds is 2/3 of 1 minute. so 2/3 of 15 is 10, and ten you add 10 to 360

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

Convert speed from feet/minute into feet/seconds. 15 feet / mn = 15 feet / 60 sec In 24 minutes 40 seconds, there are 24*60 + 40 = 1480 seconds We now multiply speed by time to find distance 1480*15/60 = 370 feet

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh so you have to convert

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

yes

OpenStudy (here_to_help15):

yes

OpenStudy (imstuck):

24 minutes is 1440 seconds. Add that to the number of seconds you already have which is 40 to get a total of 1480 seconds. Your ratio then is this:|dw:1406765432933:dw|
