OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are the diagonals of a parallelogram perpendicular? Why or why not? Explain

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, what do you think? Have you looked at any examples?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Look at this for all you need to know about parallelograms and their diagonals. http://www.wyzant.com/resources/lessons/math/geometry/quadrilaterals/properties_of_parallelograms

OpenStudy (imstuck):

They are not perpendicular...here it will tell you why. There are only two things about the diagonals of parallelograms that are always true.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

If a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, then. (1) its diagonals bisect each other, and (2) each diagonal splits the parallelogram into two congruent triangles.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

those are the only 2 things about diagonals that are a for-sure thing.
