Pets, in a pet store, 1/6 of the puppies are black and 1/4 are white. What fraction of the pupplies are black or white?

OpenStudy (staceyg):

5/12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[P(\text{black or white})=P(\text{black})+P(\text{white})-P(\text{black and white})\] Apparently, a dog can't be black and white (unless you consider a mix of the two, or gray), so we can assume \(P(\text{black and white})=0\).
