Line EF has an equation of a line y=-2x+7 and line GH has an equation of a line y=1/2x-1. These two lines are a ) parallel because the slopes of the lines are equal b ) perpendicular because the slopes are opposite reciprocals c ) the same line was graphed d ) intersecting but not at a right angle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zzr0ck3r can you help?

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

shuold that say \(y=1/2x-1\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

do you know what a reciprocal is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought the answer was b but am not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yes

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

well it looks to me that the negative reciprocal of the slope in one equation is the slope in the other equation. So I would agree that b is the answer.
