I have an issue, can someone explain why it keeps occurring please? Any answer is appreciated. (: Okay, so the past few days, every time I use LaTeX, I'll just be typing some codes and of course I don't save it, but as I type out these loooooong codes, eventually I get a screen saying "Aw, snap!", and it kicks me out of OS completely, and I lose all the codes I just spent hours typing. Does anyone know why it does this?

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

@e.mccormick @thomaster

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I have had that happen a few times. Dunno why. Could type up the complex codes here: http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php To preview them, then copy and paste. Some small differences. That is an inline editor with indent, so do the first line as \\ to cause it to kick down a line and remove the indent.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Okay, thanks! (: Another question, I recently posted a question in the LaTeX Practicing section, and after 4 replies, it would take 15+ minutes to load it. Now, there are more replies, but I cannot view them because every time I click on it, my computer will process it for about 20-25 minutes, then give me the "Aw, snap!" screen. Will I ever be able to view the replies?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Dunno. If people post complex code it can lag a lot. I have done this intentionally to show people how bad it gets.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Hrm. :/ Haha, that could be one way to stop spammers. Paste a reeeeeally complex code, so their browser kicks them out, and they'll never be able to load their spam question again. Then they have no choice but to close it. Could be a good prank, too.

I used to have this problem, and still kind of have it. I took a lazy approach to solve this. I typed the text in the word, and then just copy pasted it. It is not so good, because you will need to see what it looks like, and in a word doc, you won't see anything, but if know what you are exactly typing, then this is one (very simple) way to deal with this prob.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Yeah, I thought of that, but I was actually just typing up a tutorial, so I was experimenting with boxes and stuff, so I needed to see the live preview. :/ I was soooo close to being done, and bam! It was all gone... >:(

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yeah... I had that too. When I type a long reply, not to lose it, I type it and copy-paste into word doc peace-by-peace. This way when you lose connection, you got your latex (for whatever you needed) in your word document, not-lost.

OpenStudy (astrophysics):

Yeah this happened to me a few times, then I started to copy paste, worst was when I had like 5 drawings in one of my tutorials and then for obvious reasons you can't copy paste those haha, so what I did next time was just print screen for the drawings :P, and I guess this always happens, but then you learn to copy and paste xD.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

FINALLY! I was able to complete these giant LaTeX codes without it kicking me out! *^o^* \(\normalsize\it\color{red}{WO}\color{gold}{oO}\color{lime}{oO}\color{cyan}{oH}\color{blue}{Oo}\color{purple}{Oo}\color{blueviolet}{Oo}\color{magenta}{!}\) :D Must have been \(\normalsize\frak\color{red}m\color{gold}a\color{lime}g\color{cyan}i\color{blue}c\color{purple}!\color{blueviolet}\bigstar\) (ノ^ヮ^)ノ\(\normalsize\scr\color{red}{*:}\color{gold}{・゚}\color{lime}{✧}\color{cyan}{*}\color{blue}{:}\color{purple}{・゚}\color{blueviolet}{✧}\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Very nice !

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Yah, they are also working on some vulnerabilities, so some of this might be related to software updates on the server.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

Oh, haha when I clicked the link to see your reply, it kicked me out. >.< And I actually just DID clear my cache.

whitemonsterbunny17 (whitemonsterbunny17):

So it can't be that. :/
