Question on Motors Please Help!

I have to design an electromechanical part for a crane model that is capable of going forward and backward, and lift a load up and lower it down as well.

I already have an idea of what I'm going to construct but since I haven't covered an Electrical unit yet, What formulas should I use for my calculations to get what motor/s specification and my winch dimension should be?

Now the restraints are:
Load must be between 0.5 to 1.5 kg
Must operate within 1 Watt peak
Must be able to move this load within 1 minute
Must fail/stall before1.5 kg

I was thinking of using a set of motors (2 wheel drive) to move the robot, forward and backward and using a separate motor to drive the winch for lifting and lowering the load. I will use a wired remote control as well.... I just need help in figuring out what formulas I should use to calculate the requirements.  Thanks in advnce
