How many maximum amino groups can be present in an amino acid? a) 1 b) 2 c) 3 d) 4

@thomaster

OpenStudy (aaronq):

All amino acids have at least 1 \(-NH_2\) group (attached to the \(\alpha\)-carbon) but some can have up to 4 amino groups (Arg).

so it answer will be 1 or 4 ??

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Well it depends. The question is worded ambiguously. Is it asking for the max number of NH2's in any one amino acid, or the max number in a general amino acid - which could be any of them (i.e. NOT including the R group). If it's the first scenario, then 4, if it's the second, then 1.
