It doesn't cancel the transaction. It authorizes it. So it's definitely not C and that knocks out D as well. I agree with AuroraB in saying it's either A or B

As for A, there could be cases when the check bounces (because of an empty bank account). So that doesn't fully guarantee payment will be made. That's why I'm thinking A is wrong.
