Which function has the smallest minimum? f(x) = -3 sin(x - pi) + 2 h(x)= (x + 7)^2 -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find the minimum of a function we get the 1st derivative and equate to zero... such as f'(x)=0 and h'(x)=0...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

... then compare the two minima...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would the minimum of f(x) be -1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h(x) is already in vertex form of a quadratic right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nv i figured this out... the minimum y values are both -1
