please can someone check if I am correct? PLEASE WILL GIVE MEDAL. 2. Justify each step of the proof. Conjecture: If 2(x2 + 5) = 60, then x is 5 or –5. 1. 2(x2 + 5) = 60 1. Given 2. 2x2 + 10 = 60 2.Distrubutive law 3. 2x2 = 50 3. Equals subtracted from equal, remainders are equal. 4. x2 = 25 4. Equals divided by equals quotients are equal. 5. x = ±5 5. Square roots of equals are equal. Answer: x = ±5
For line 3, you can use the subtractive property of equality. For line 4, you can use the division property of equality. and for line 5, you can state "square root property" However, you have good reasons for each step
And for the answer? Do you think that's what I should put there?
that or "x = 5 or x = -5" either works
Okay thank you so much!!
you're welcome
