IST step... Calculate the mean of the data. Add up all the numbers and divide by the total number of data points.

ok... STEP 2... Subtract the mean from each data point (or the other way around, if you prefer... you will be squaring this number, so it does not matter if it is positive or negative).

ok.. .This value is the sample variance..

but its not one of the answer choices. so would it be the one closest to 35.125 which is 34.90?

yeah, round your answer to the nearest decimal places... that is the procedure for finding the variance...
