D I think her brother was named Rambo? her brother was on the shore left behind and she decided to jump to him and swim to him so he wouldn't be alone. I just finished that book and don't remember much but i'm sure it is D.

The whole idea of this story is a Indian girl who struggled surviving and being alone yet she made it. The beginning of the book is basically about the Aletus coming to Karana's land and asking for otter and a Russian comes to her land confronts her father and the village people don't trust the Aletus because they had come to the island before and cheated them during hunting for otters. Soon later the Aletus and the Russian man does come and cheat the tribe by trying to kill them and by doing this the tribe fight against them and some die yet still kill the Aletus and due to the fight Karana's father dies and after the battle ends the tribe Karana and Ulape and Rambo are depressed and sorrow reeks through the tribe. Soon after a old Chief named Chief Kimi comes and takes over and guides the tribe yet still sorrow spreads soon after the chief leaves due to the haunting of the memories of the dead tribe members and leaves the island in a canoe. Soon after a ship comes and picks up the tribe members and they board the ship and Ulape Karana's little sister spreads a blue line across her face showing she is unmarried. But then Karana notices her little brother Rambo is left behind on the island and jumps out of the boat and swims towards the shore and goes to him to keep him company till another ship comes. During the wait they discuss things such as Rambo becoming the new village leader and so on and they sleep yet later on Rambo was missing and Karana noticed but when she found him he was on the ground with his neck bleeding and wolves around him. Karana was heart broken and scared the wolves away and picked up her dead brother and walked off following where the wolves at fleed hoping to kill them by getting a brush and burning it and putting it in their cave but she failed. She was now alone and had to fend for herself and survive and make a home yet still get revenge. She decided to live near coral cove since the sea elephants there and slept on top of a rock for a long time keeping away from the wolves and their fierce pack leader waiting to have revenge. She kept thinking to her self on the rock that she would get revenge but she was afraid to make a weapon due to her village rules of woman not being able to make weapons would get her back if she did it but she realized she needed it to survive and decided to make a weapon. Once she did this she killed three wolves she found and left the leader unharmed. She then after waited and built her house and finally saw the wolf leader and damaged him I think then stopped and saw him as just an injured animal and took him in her hut and took care of him. He named him i'm not sure...Rontu I think I forgot but she kept him as a pet from then on and hunted with him and roamed around. Sorry I don't remember much more but I do remember Rontu died of old age later on and then later Karana found a young dog she named Au Rontu (Son of Rontu) she kept him as a pet and lived on and I think there was a storm that almost washed her away so she hid in coral cove and ummm once she was taken by the white men to land she was happy because she could actually see people again. Also she really loved the animals and the dolphins because they kept her company. Hopefully this helped good luck on your test mention me and I might be able to help. :)
