can someone explain to me exponential functions in a short easy way???????????

An exponential function is when a base number, for example 2, is powered to the variable, for example x. As a result, as x gets larger, the function will get larger and larger at an unbelievable rate. When x = 1, f(x) = 2, when x = 4, f(x) = 16, when x = 10, f(x) = 1024, etc.

well and exponent to a value , increases it greatly
so an exponential function, is a way to represent non-linear growth

that is, growth or increase/decrease that changes one factor much faster than another

an example of that will be ... say a person's growth
from age 8 to age 15 or 17 , people grow really tall really quick in just 7 years or so

you'd notice someone who was 8 years and 7 years later, they're 4 feet taller

now... when they're say 20 to 50... no growth there.. .welll the belly grows.. but that's horizontal =)

thus the new value is an exponential value.... thus it can be represented like so

certain plant's grow for example
or bacteria grow

or say the space shuttle speed as it leaves the stratosphere, in order to counter gravity's pull
