if i have a circular pool with a diameter of 16, with pool fencing 2m from the edge of the pool and a pathway 1m wide immediately surrounding the pool, how can i figure out the amount of fencing needed and the amount of paved pathway?

OpenStudy (crashonce):

because the fence is two metres from the edge of the pool, the fencing will be the circumference of the circle but with the radius(8) + 2 therefore it would be pixdiametre or pix20 20 pi or 62.8m

OpenStudy (radar):

Do it similarly in manner suggested by CrashOnce. Calculate two areas and then subtract. The area of the larger circle (which includes the path, use a radius of 8 + 1 or 9. Subtract from that the area of the pool.|dw:1406982427602:dw|
