the difference between homogeneous and heterogeneous mixture?

OpenStudy (midhun.madhu1987):

A mixture is said to be homogeneous if the constituent particles are uniformly distributed. Example: Air, Sugar solution , Salt solution.. that is we cannot distinguish between the constituent particles. A mixture is said to be heterogeneous, if the constituent particles are not uniformly distributed. Example: Muddy water, Chalk powder in water. Here we can separately see the constituent particles.
