OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Is my answer correct? Which of the following phase changes would release energy as it occurs? Melting Boiling Evaporating Freezing Is the correct answer Freezing?

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Boiling

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Because someone said this: It's freezing : ) The first three happen when the temperature is raised or heat goes into the matter. When freezing, the opposite occurs and heat is released. But that does not seem correct.

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Why is it boiling though? I'm not trying to be rude I just like to learn rather then just taking the answer.

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Thank you by the way.

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Acually nvm, forget what i said. it's freezing : The first three happen when the temperature is raised or heat goes into the matter. When freezing, the opposite occurs and heat is released.

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Sorry about that :o!

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

I'm confused now :(

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Its Freezing. Sorry about the confusion :/

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

It's alright, Would you mind if I got a second opinion? Just to double check?

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

I'm not saying you are wrong I just want to be 1000% sure.

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Ya sure, i dont mind

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

@ParthKohli , @Compassionate Can you help me out please?

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

@nincompoop ? ;-;

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Here answer me this ok?

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

What do you need to melt ice?

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Um, heat.

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

ok, what do you need to boil water?

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Heat

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

What do you need to evaporate?

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Heat!

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

^u^

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

My mom says the answer is boiling though so I am confused :c

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Ok, When freezing something, the compete opposite of the heat occurs.

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

Your mom might not be a physicist ;-) Boiling REQUIRES energy, whereas freezing RELEASES energy. So the right answer is freezing.

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

;D ^^

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

when bond forms energy is released and when bond breaks energy is taken up :)

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Understand what i was saying Cydney?

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

its freezing :P and not boiling :)

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

^^

OpenStudy (cydney_morgan):

Thank you :)

OpenStudy (redneckoutlaw):

Welcome(; if yo uneed anymore help, feel free to message me or tag me :3
