Does anyone know how to solve for x? https://banff.owschools.com/media/g_geo_2013/7/group186.gif

OpenStudy (nikato):

Call the unlabeled arc length in the semicircle, y There's a theorem that states 10= 1/2 (30-y) Solve for y

OpenStudy (nikato):

Once you solve for y, you know a semicircle=180 So 180=30 + y + x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=120?

OpenStudy (nikato):

No. What did you get for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 100 then? :o

OpenStudy (nikato):

10 is correct. 180= 30+10+x 180=40+x -40. -40 ------------ x=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i see. okay thank you!Could you help me in solving one more question?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Ok. And sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have a ton of questions just like this https://banff.owschools.com/media/g_geo_2013/7/group146.gif m∠1 = _° I get confused withh arcs..lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think i just get all these theorems and things mixed up!

OpenStudy (nikato):

Same theorem That angle = 1/2 ( major arc - minor arc)

OpenStudy (nikato):

So <1= 1/2 (140-40)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i get it now!!!

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yea. Shouldn't be that hard once you know what formula to use
