What are some of the benefits of reading to children? Include infancy through young school age children.

The benefits are soooooo great!! We just got a pamphlet about this just the other day from the school actually. There was a study done on kids who are ready to 20 minutes a day. They compared kids from low income families, middle income families, and wealthy families and all the results were the same. The kids who were ready to knew 20,000+ more words than the kids who didn't read!! Yes crazy that just reading can make that big of a difference. Also the kids who were read to all had higher grades in school, higher test grades and also struggled less with learning. It's something that is so simple, kids love it and it makes such a huge difference in their learning and lives. We ready for 30 mins every night before bed and my kids love it! I find they sleep better too because they relax and calm down after our busy day.
