in 2000,the average cost for a gallon of gasoline was $1.40. in 2007, the average cost for a gallon of gasoline $2.60. what is the percent of increase rounded to the nearest whole number?

well the way i was figuring it is a 1.2% increase. rounded off to whole number would be 1%. This is how i configured, see if that is what you came up with. Im pretty sure this is how you do it. 2.60-1.40=1.20. Divide that by 100 and you get .012. Move the decimal over two spaces and get 1.2% then round.
