If you connect a low impedance voltmeter, say a 10,000 Ohms per volt, you will load a high impedance circuit causing a reduction in the voltage indicated by the voltmeter. Use a high impedance voltmeter for voltage measurements for more accurate readings and prevent excessive loading of a circuit.
