Anyone experience with Google spreadsheet/ Excel conditional formatting?

thomaster (thomaster):

It's very easy to use the custom formula function to change the cell format, like background or text color. What I'm looking for is to insert data in the cell when the value in another cell matches the formula. For example: How it is now: Cell B4 contains "yes", Cell C4 turns green. `=$B4="yes"` \(\large\to\) background color to green. What I want: Cell B4 contains "yes", Cell C4 turns green AND put the text "X" in the cell. Is this possible with custom formulas, or do I need to write scripts for this.

@e.mccormick perhaps you know?

OpenStudy (mandre):

I don't think there functions to do that but you should be able to do it with an event-driven macro. You an write a macro which will run when 1 or more cells change.

well then too bad I'm not going to write macro's for something this simple xD anyways thanks.
