Hi, 

aerobic respiration occurs when $O_2$ is present, in cases where $O_2$ is not available anaerobic respiration occurs. Both are cellular respiration pathways that generate energy (ATP).

Aerobic involves glycolysis, citric acid cycle and the electron transport chain.
Anaerobic can be either through fermentation or lactic acid production.
