Whats a fast way to solve this??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The point (-2, 5) is rotated 270o counterclockwise about the origin. What is the image?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@JoannaBlackwelder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@study100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say draw a triangle and find the degrees of the angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. so let me go ahead and do that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1407136817905:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tan(x) = 5/-2 x= tan^-1(5/-2) x=-68.198 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now you're trying to find tan(x+270) tan(x+270) tan(-68.196+270) = 0.4 = 2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@paki is this right so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how about this wsy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

way*

OpenStudy (paki):

this is also rite one... look deep at the rotation points...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so then basing it off of what I just posted the answer would be 5,2

OpenStudy (paki):

study is also rite. please proceed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it is 5,2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since we start out with (-2,5) and tan was =5/-2, tan(x+3pi/2) = -cot(x) = 2/5

OpenStudy (paki):

nice explanation by @study100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

picture looks better? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah!! THanks guys!

OpenStudy (paki):

pleasure...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you paki :))

OpenStudy (paki):

np :)
