point slope form help?

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

What is the equation in point-slope form of the line passing through (1, 2) and (2, 5)? (y - 2) = -3(x - 1) (y - 2) = 3(x - 1) (y - 1) = -3(x - 2) (y + 2) = 3(x + 1)

OpenStudy (imstuck):

first find the slope between those 2 points using the slope formula. do you know it?

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

its 3

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

@IMStuck the slope is 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y - y1 = m(x - x1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and m is 3 \[\frac{ 2-5 }{ 1-2 } \frac{ -3 }{ -1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

two negatives make a positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now plug the numbers in

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

so its b or d? @KlOwNlOvE

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

@KlOwNlOvE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm a little late but the answer would be B because if you look at the formula D isn't using it right D is doing Y+y1=m(x+x1) the formula is Y-y1=m(x-x1)
