Medal for help Please :) My answer is Perpendicular
@Asevilla5
What is the sign going to be on x when you move it to the left side?
wait where's the question?
Sorrry this site is crazy today , a lot of glitches
@Asevilla5
The slope of the perpendicular is the negative inverse. So what is the slope of 32x - 48y = -36;
=−3 2
what do u think @Asevilla5
im doing the work and still thinking. im thinking the answer is neither but not sure.
k Ty so much
@IMStuck
its perpendicular
solve the second equation for y. Get everything on one side of the equals sign away from just the plain old y. Let's see what that gives us.
OK
That gives us -28y = -32x - 36, or you can get rid of all those negatives by changing the signs on everything to 28y = 32x + 36. Then dividing by 28 gives you the y alone: y = 32/28x + 36/28. Now let's do the simplifying: y = 8/7x + 9/7
First solve for y (so it is just plain no negative sign or coefficient: 32x - 48y = -36 Then the coefficient on x will be the slope. Iff this is negative inverse of the slope of the other line, then this is perpendicular.
So the slope to the second line is 8/7. What is the rule about a line that is perpendicular to another line when it comes to slope?
your answer of perpendicular is correct, btw. Good!
@Asevilla5 can u please give IMstuck a medal too :)
