OpenStudy (anonymous):

what was the role of religion in post 1970 America? A: It became increasingly irrelevant as the "Me Generation" turned inward and concentrated on personal goals and materialistic pursuits B: It gained new visibility as a champion of liberal reform C: It gained increased visibility and played a more decisive cultural and political role than it had for years D: It became discredited because of a series of scandals involving television preachers

OpenStudy (kenljw):

It depends on how post you mean, I'd say initially "C", in the 80's came "D", in the 90's "A" with the yuppie's but it has always been true in our capitalistic economy. You also ended up with the Roman Catholic Church "sex" scandal. Personally I think "B" has always been with us from the end of slavery, women's suffrage, to the civil rights act and the expanding of SS for Disability and MEDICARE and SSI in 1965.
