For sin(θ) = -0.4321, 0 ≤ θ ≤ 360°. (8) 1.How many solutions are possible? 2.In which quadrants would you find the solutions? 3.Determine the reference angle for this equation to the nearest degree. 4.Determine all the solutions to the equation to the nearest degree.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in the entire circle there would be two places

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sine is the second coordinate , it is negative in quadrant 3 and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you good from there ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you find that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure what you are asking i didn't find anything, just drew a picture with \(-.4321\) labelled on the y axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried to graph it and it showed up as undefined

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that shows you that on the unit circle you should be in quadrant 3 or 4, where sine is negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want the actual value for the angle in degrees you need a calculator, type in \[\sin^{-1}(-.4321)\] and make sure it is set in degree mode or use wolfram

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh Okay I got it! thank you! I should have thought of that! haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get \(-25.6\) http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=arcsin%28-.4321%29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then to make sure it is between 0 and 360, add \(360\) to it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that gives you the one on the right hand side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean add 360?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that gives you 333.5
