Glycolysis provides a cell with a net gain of A. 2 ATP molecules. B. 4 ATP molecules. C. 18 ATP molecules. D. 36 ATP molecules.

OpenStudy (giobott09):

I believe this is history not Biology :D

OpenStudy (giobott09):

But the answer is A. 2ATP because After glycolysis only 2 ATP is created, the rest come from Kreb's cycle and the oxidative phosphorylation. In the glycolysis we have investing phase and gain phase. In the investing phase we use 2 ATP and in the gain phase we get 4 ATP back.. so the net ATP gained is 2 ATP.
