Fraction Help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3/4)x + (5/8) = 4x I have to find x and put the answer in fraction form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyone? :(

OpenStudy (mokeira):

\[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }x +\frac{ 5 }{ 8 } =4x\] \[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }x -4x=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\] \[\frac{ 3 }{ 4 }x-\frac{ 4 }{ 1 }x=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\] \[\frac{ -13 }{ 4 }x=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\] \[x=\frac{ 5 }{ 8 }\times \frac{ -13 }{ 4 }\]

OpenStudy (mokeira):

simplify

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

3/4x + 5/8 = 4x -- subtract 3/4x from both sides 5/8 = 4x - 3/4x 5/8 = 16/4x - 3/4x 5/8 = 13/4x -- divide both sides by 13/4 (5/8) / (13/4) = x 5/8 * 4/13 = x 20/104 which reduces to 5/26 another way... 3/4x + 5/8 = 4x -- multiply everything by common denominator of 8 6x + 5 = 32x 5 = 32x - 6x 5 = 26x x = 5/26

thanks @texaschic101 I got it right! Any chance you are good with inequalities?
