Given the box plot, will the mean or the median provide a better description of the center? The mean, because the data distribution is symmetrical The mean, because the data distribution is skewed to the left The median, because the data distribution is skewed to the left The median, because the data distribution is skewed to the right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would chose the last one because it is the only one that has something to do with the right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i chose d last time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry but none of the other ones make sence

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what im sayin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@xapproachesinfinity

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@juanpabloJR

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its mean but its not to the left or even symmetrical

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Sorry i don't know the mean and median i studied this in a different language lol

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

i haven't look at it in to see what it is!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mean is average of the numbers and median is the number in the middle

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

Oh i see

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

well the center should be in the midpoint, So i think we should you the median no?

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

use*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue man i thought it had to be d but its not

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

what is this course!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

algebra 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on flvs cause im doing that also

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what module are you on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.03

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i did that let me check what i put hold on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i never got that questiion and how do you know its not d?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cause i reset and i out d last time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you reset the test they add new questions and mix up the answer choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look ik this was not the answer it is exactly what i put last time they dont alwasy put diff questions

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

College algebra, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh sorry but i have no idea :( if you call your teacher they will give you help that is what i do sometimes sorry

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

High school algebra then haha,

OpenStudy (xapproachesinfinity):

i know that the center in midpoint, so you need to use the median to get that that i'm sure of

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

Mean is an accurate estimate of the center. I would recommend, the distribution being symmetrical.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but it isnt symmetrical

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it wouldnt be mean because most of the data is towards the right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

just put d one question wont affect the grade that much

OpenStudy (juanpablojr):

Hmmmm well we all learn from our mistakes if it shows you the correct answer why not. If it was me I would choose A but that's only my opinion. Choose Wisely.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i agree :)
