Picture of question attached below :) @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

First, any idea what quadrant P ends up in ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P is in quadrant 2 , point P has the coordinates (5, 2) ; therefore, I believe it would be the opposite- resulting in the coordinates (-5,2) , which is option A.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(That is the only logical reasoning I have come up with so far..)

OpenStudy (phi):

yes. Bute P is (2,5) (not 5,2) when I do this problem, I change 270 cw to 90 c c w then I use 90 rotation of (a,b) is (-b,a) or (b,-a) which we choose depends on which quadrant we want to end up in. quadrant 2 has negative x and positive y that means if we start at (2,5) we first swap x and y (5,2) then because we need to minus the x or y (to make 90º rotation), and we want x negative, we do (-5,2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh crap, I switched y and x ; my bad . :/ So you as well have concluded it is A, correct?

OpenStudy (phi):

yes, you got the correct answer (sometimes it better to be lucky than good!)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha, yes! Thanks :)
