describe a setting in which you have collaborated or interacted with people whose experiences and/or beliefs differ from yours
This seems to be a more personal reflective question. Think back to your past memories and experiences. Have you ever hung out wit a group of people that have individuals who maybe believe in a different religion than you or who have different opinions about governmental laws? Have you ever participated in a program in school or otherwise where you felt like you collaborated with people who had differing beliefs or views form what you are normally used to? Once you think hard about it, I'm sure something will come to mind! :)
Thanks! I've lived in Qatar, and that was a new experience for me. I find it hard to put my experience into words though.
Oh wow than you must have a lot to write!! Living in a completely different country, especially one with a large Muslim population would definitely land you in many situations where you were around people whose beliefs and customs differed form yours. How about start with this...are you a religious person?
Kind of. I respect everyone's views on their own religion as long as they don't try to force their religious views upon me.
I remember when I first joined my new school. Everyone thought I had an accent since I was from America. I did things differently and said things that they haven't heard of. I was a bit of an outcast for a little while.
I admire that! And that must have been very difficult. But do you come from a specifically religious family? For example, I am Jewish. Do you identify with a specific religion? If so, that might give you a basis for answering this question. If not, you can just describe religion in Qatar itself. Being a Muslim/Islam majority I'm sure you saw or heard things that you hadn't experienced before, religion wise.
You can describe what the people there were like and how you felt being surrounded with such heavy religious influence around you.
Yes it was! I'm a Hindu and yes, I saw, ate, viewed and experienced new things. My family isn't that religious, but we have strong cultural values.
Thank you! I have more ideas for my essay now :)
Then compare and contrast Hinduism with Islam and the differences you found living in Qatar! I hope I helped a bit!
You did! Thanks!
