What is the surface area this storage box?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (nikato):

It's a cube so all 6 faces all the same And each face is a square

OpenStudy (nikato):

Area of square= (side)^2 =2.5^2 =?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, 15.625?

OpenStudy (nikato):

No. What's 2.5^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand what you mean by 2.5^2?

OpenStudy (nikato):

2.5 squared Or 2.5 x 2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6.25

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yes. So that's the area of one face Because this have has 6 of those faces, Multiply 6.25x6 to find your surface area

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it's 37.5?

OpenStudy (nikato):

Yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you, you actually helped me understand how to do it other then just giving me the answer like most people. :)

OpenStudy (mokeira):

Surface area simply mean you find the area of all the faces. \[SA=2(2.5\times2.5)+2(2.5\times2.5)+2(2.5\times2.5)\]

OpenStudy (nikato):

No problem. And that's actually what they're suppose to do. Glad to help you!
