Well this is a hard question but I think that it is necessary because it helps you to give suggestions like for examle if I am talking to a friend and she is in a dificult situation I would use subjuntive mood to tell her what would I do in her place, also it makes it easier to express what you wish or if you believe something or not, what you feel in general.

dont worry sorry if my answer is not what you expected I do use subjunctive mood a lot, is just that as a native speaker you are not aware that you are doing it, to be honest I didnt knew that was a thing. ( I just searched it)
