Which is the best summary of this paragraph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any system that can transmit information across a distance, such as mail, telegram, telephone, or television, may be called a telegraph. Telegraph comes from the ancient Greek words tele, meaning "far," and graphein, meaning "to write." The earliest forms of communication across great distances were probably smoke, fire, and drum signals. The world has come a long way since then. Nowadays, many people exchange electronic mail, or email, addresses. This is because of a relatively new and powerful tool called the Internet, the most modern method of communication we have.
