I used to have this problem too a while ago. You have probably tried to referesh a number of times and it didn't work. It is a bug, so I can't really suggest anything. When I had this, I just tried to use OS as carefully as I can, but I guess it is a time to tag a mod

OpenStudy just doesn't like you!! Just kidding lol I've been getting that randomly. I'm not receiving full notifications. It's a bug/glitch thingy. You've noticed the random lags right? OpenStudy needs to be updated again. Should work fine hopefully after that.

Sometimes, switching browsers can help.

I considered using Safari when OS was lagging and glitching about a week ago, and it really works. I have to open many tabs tab for each window on my comp when I use Safari, but with no glitches.

I am not sure if switching browser would work... but have you tried that ?

You know what I had yesterday, you reminded me about it. I have to OS tabs open, one is a group like mathematics or feedback whatever it was, and the other is my profile. In my group tab I get notifications 30 since after they pop up in my profile.
No clue why is that. Well, I got it fixed by refreshing, but interesting that OS's "aw snaps" or notification delays can cause my music to glitch too.
