Books and other people's code offline. Online has many many resources including the afore mentioned, depending on the language. Maybe try codeacademy.com to see if you language(s) is/are there.

Well online the best way to do anything with the computer like doing programming or learning software program  because you will find computer is lively when you have net connection otherwise seems like not functioning for update or any other reason .
