Can someone help me? I had 201 and it was wrong. Solve the problem. An average library contains at least 50 and at most 250 books. How many library owners must be polled to be certain that at least two owners have the same number of books in their libraries? A. 203 owners B. 202 owners C. 200 owners D. 201 owners
How many values are in [50, 250]? The square bracket means including the end points. The question says "at least 50" and "at most 250," so clearly both 50, and 250 are possible answers to "How many books do you have?"
Ok. What exactly am I supposed to do?
50, and 250 are possible numbers of books. The other possible numbers are the numbers between 50 and 250. If you interview 201 libraries, the could be a library to each possible number, so you need one more to be certain that there are 2 the same.
So...It would be 202??
Yes.
Thanx:)!!!
