OpenStudy (rosales0228):

GIVING MEDAL!!!!! Which linear expression is a factor of the polynomial function f(x) = x3 + 2x2 − x − 2? x − 2 x + 2 x + 3 x − 3

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

to find out which one is a factor use the Factor Theorem If (x -a) is a factor then f(a) = 0

OpenStudy (midhun.madhu1987):

Try to put f(2) , f(-2), f(-3) and f(3). The one which gives the value 0 is a factor.

OpenStudy (rosales0228):

I tried that and I could figure it out

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

so if x - 3 is a factor then f(3) = 0

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

try f(-2) again

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

if this = 0 then x + 2 is a factor
