Can someone please help me get started on this editorial??

I have to write and editorial on this focus question.
Focus Question — Should the courts treat minors the same as adults when they are accused of serious crimes?

Here's what the assignment says, "Imagine your state is having voters decide the issue of whether to allow juveniles to be tried and sentenced as adults. The local newspaper has asked students in your course to submit an article on the topic to give minors a voice in the debate. The editor explains that your audience includes voting adults who may be undecided on the issue. Your job is to write a persuasive article to convince them to your side.

Your article will be graded on content and quality. Be sure to use facts and quotes where appropriate to explain or justify your claim. Relate court cases that you have learned about to each other and refer to what you have learned in lessons. You may use this template to organize your article.

I just need help getting started because the template they give me is awful.

I'd suggest using Microsoft Publisher for a better template. Just go to the Newsletters and choose one you like and works for you. What position are you taking?

I say yes to trying minors as adults if they have committed serious crimes. I'm just having a hard time starting. After I get the first paragraph everything is usually a lot easier. @ManImStumped

Is there a certain age for minors? Like 13 and up or something?

There is no real limit it gets decided by the state courts based on the factors include the seriousness of the crime as well as the suspect's age, criminal background, and mental state.

You can start off with a statement, or even a quote. It can be something like:
Within most, if not all, the states, there is a general agreement and support for criminal children being given a juvenile sentence, granting them special privileges, usually backing up their support with the typical assumption of the doli complex - children are incapable of forming a guilty mind.
But it has been proven, time and time again, that children are, indeed, capable of a guilty mind and, as such, cases involving children should consider their psychological maturation.
