Find the slope of the line that passes through the points (3, -6) and (6, 12).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[m=\frac{y-y_o}{x-x_o}\]\[m=\frac{-6-12}{3-6}\]\[m=\frac{-18}{-3}=6\]

OpenStudy (agreene):

as D3xt3R pointed out remember the formula for slope: \[m=\frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hey, by the way @agreene , what does that Δ mean?

OpenStudy (agreene):

Delta notation is used for change, or average change. it is defined as \(\Delta k = k_2-k_1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Huh. Haven't heard of delta notation before. Maybe I'll be learning about it in the future. :)
