For a buffet dinner, a restaurant charges $10 for one person, $20 for two, $29 for three, $37 for four, $44 for five, and so on. a. How much does a buffet dinner for 8 cost? How much does a group of 8 save be eating together rather than separately? b.The buffet costs the restaurant $6 per person. How large a group can the restaurant serve without losing money?

i would imagine these would be the answers: a. $74 because dinner for 4 is $37. b. I would go with 3. (not really sure though)

The letter a. answer was wrong I'm trying to figure it out how do you get $59; $21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are both wrong. A) 62. - 10+10+9+8+7+..etc. The are adding one less # from 10 to 20. Eventually leading to $62 for 8 people. B) 6 people is the largest group they can serve because after 6 people it costs $5 a person -1 for each person after.
