a marble is drawn at random from a box containing 3 yellow, 8 white, and 12 blue marbles. What are the odds against drawing a blue marble?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The odds of getting a blue marble is 12/23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would against be 11/23?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so you are drawing a marble at random, and you are looking for a blue marble. Against all odds means that its the chances of getting a non blue marble. So, in this case chances of getting a blue marble is 12/23. Against all odds to get one is 1 - (12/23) = 11/23
